You’d like a course grounded in evidence based approaches to ADHD
You want a course which will enable you to achieve your ICF ACC Credential
Learn to coach in the real world, with our support
Peer community
We invite you to join a small group of your colleagues where you'll be able to digest everything that's going on in the course. We find that people in these learning groups often end up meeting for years after they graduate. You'll also have a place to swap coaching practice hours with your peers in our peer coaching area, which supports you to build your coaching confidence together.
Mentor Coaching
You'll get one-to-one and group mentor coaching, which is feedback on your actual coaching with an experienced PCC certified coach. This means that you'll leave with detailed feedback on what you're doing really well and areas for growth tailored to you.
Supervision
Starting to coach real clients can feel daunting, and you might have a lot of questions, whether it be about the business or about your clients. Supervision is the place that you can take all of these. We’re there to support who you are as coaches with free monthly supervision for 12 months after you graduate. An experienced PCC certified coach will be there to facilitate a conversation between you and your peers, and perhaps offer a bit of their own perspective.
Modules
-
In this module, you will learn about ADHD through the lens of executive function. This is a model developed by Thomas Brown that was built from an observational model of ADHD, where he has described the areas that you can observe to be affected by ADHD.
Executive functions include memory, regulating emotions, getting started with a task. Over eight sessions, you will dive into each executive function, explore how the strengths and challenges they bring, and then unpack what a coaching approach to that might be.
-
This module equips you with the skills that you need to confidently lead a coaching session. From how we ask questions as coaches, to how we listen actively, to the overall structure of what we're trying to accomplish in a coaching session.
-
In this module you will explore a range of Humanistic coaching models, all of which centre on how we view the client in the coaching relationship.
Person-centred coaching holds the client as whole, resourceful, and capable, and this informs how we coach. If these things are true about our clients, then we will consider them the expert in their ADHD experience.
We also look at challenging coaching, - if we do hold our clients as whole and capable, then this might also provide space for us to challenge our clients. You’re going to find your style of challenge vs support in this module.
Finally, we explore positive psychology, which has some evidence on helping ADHD people savour what's going well.
-
In this module you will learn about solution-focused coaching, which is a way to work towards outcomes with your clients.
We can do this through constructing a preferred future with our clients and helping them understand what the smaller steps might be towards it. Or looking for evidence of things that are going well, and helping our clients to do more of that.
-
As an ADHD Coach, your clients might bring thoughts and feelings about their ADHD into sessions. This module gives you a few ways you can work with that, including:
Narrative coaching, which breaks down how these stories might be constructed
Gestalt coaching, which is all about how we might look at the experiences people are having with their ADHD in the coaching space
-
In the last module, you will explore the Ethics of practicing as an ADHD Coach, exploring the ICF’s Ethical code as well as understanding how your role relates to safeguarding.
There will also be space to reflect on your coaching journey with your peers and start thinking ahead as you put your learning into practice.
