Learning as part of a community
We feel that learning is often most effective when done in collaboration with others. During your time on the course you will be able to connect with other members of the cohort in a number of ways.
Learning Partners
When you join the course you will be placed in a group of 3 - 4 learning partners and encouraged to meet regularly. Some students use this time to practice coaching techniques, to discuss the reading (and use each other as accountability partners), or to connect and share experience
Peer to Peer Coaching
To gain your SOAC Level 1 credential you need to complete 16 hours of practice coaching, one of the nicest ways you can get started is by practicing on your peers. We encourage students to offer slots where they deliver coaching in exchange for slots where they receive it
If you plan to go further and achieve your ICF ACC Credential after completing the SOAC Course, then you will need to do 100 hours of coaching (75% of which should be paid), many of our students use the network they have nurtured at SOAC to find other clients to get them started on their coaching career.
Cohort Supervision
We believe that Supervision is a crucial part of safe, ethical and effective coaching. Supervision is the practice of working with a trained Supervisor to reflect on your coaching experiences and develop your skills.
Up to twelve months after you finish the course, you will have access to free monthly Supervision with SOAC Faculty who are also trained Supervisors.
You can read more about Supervision here https://coachingfederation.org/education-professional-development/find-professional-development/coaching-supervision/
Cohort Platform
You will be able to message Faculty and your fellow students easily and quickly on our course platform, where you will also be able to access all the slides, reading, and other resources for the course.
